      Thanks for the advice on Spectacle and I am getting to like it more. I have tried selecting a rectangular region and it worked fine. I just had to realize that the region option was only activated by a left mouse click.

      I found it interesting that when I copied Spectacle from Utilities to Graphics it was registered in the list of Recent Applications. So, I now realize that applications that are launched from Utilities are not added to the list of Recent Applications.
