    Screenshoot

Sorry guys, how can I take a screenshoot?
Shortcut is already on print button but doesn't work.
I think the cause is a missing software like ksnapshot.
    How can I fix?

    Hi kenzolo!
And welcome to the friendliest forum on the net!

I'm running wiley so can't particularly answer your question, but yes, if ksnapshot is not there then you might need to install it, but Xenial may use something else.

Anyhow somebody running Xenial will drop by soon to answer your question, and again WELCOME!!

If you don't have that section present, look at this one:

          Hi
I'm glad that you have found what you need!

Just as a note to others, The latest Wiley with Plasma 5 etc. has Ksnapshot.

So, is it not included in the default install of Xenial?
            And no replacement, either?
That's a strange way to go on

I dunno I have it here, it installed during an update (tho i am using various staging ppas for testing) but I did have to edit the keyboard shortcut. Which seemed to affect most distros pushing out that version of plasma.

Indeed KSnapshot was there last week and today I was able to install spectacle.
It didn't show up by itself.

You'll need to delete ~/.config/khotkeysrc and re-login. This is a known problem.

Yeah though at some point spectacle will replace it. Users of some of the Xenial testing ppas already have it.

PrtSc might call spectacle but it is short from being a decent replacement of the old utility.

What annoys me most is it lack of reconfigurability or memory.
It doesn't remember the preferred format but defaults to .png nor does it remember the last destination directory.

Ive not had an issue with it remembering my save directory. Ksnapshot defaults to png as well. I've always used that anyway (better quality imo). I guess not being able to have a different default image format for screenies might be annoying for a few folks, but I guess most don't need/want that. I think it is a pleasant tool. I like being able to configure the file naming structure and the 'on click' option for grabbing.

I have found that I had to install KSnapshot and have used it successfully. I decided to install kde-spectacle and to my surprise it appeared in the menu option Utilities as Spectacle. I would have thought it should be in Graphics like KSnapshot.

I have also found that it is not listed in Recent Applications after I have called it and exited it a number of times. I, like others, have found that the Save option has a png file which is located in ~/Pictures with a very long name, eg, Screenshot_20160327_204916.png. I therefore tend to use the Save As.. option to specify my own name.

For the moment, I think I will use KSnapshot which remembers my last file name and with an incremented number at the end of the file name.
