intel celeron n3150 intel hda realtek alc 887 no sound issue

    Hey!
I'm glad to have found this forum :-)
Bought an ASRock N3150M two weeks ago and tried very hard to get various distries running on it. My linux knowledge is pretty little, so I was hoping for an usable "out of the box experience". But, no; it's modern hardware On mint cinnamon there was no vga, on fedora extremely high cpu load, no multimedia support, on mx-14 corrupted sound an on kubuntu plasma no sound - it's recognizing a dummy soundcard.
I decided to stick to kubuntu, but I've to learn something.

Any ideas, what can I do?

    sry for bad english :-)

    kind regards,
    markus

My suggestions: Start by getting a distro that boots. Then work one issue at a time. Rarely are problems unsolvable, they just need some work.

If you're going to try Kubuntu, post a thread with your system details and issues. Hopefully, someone will be able to help.

BTW, a little web searching reveals that the Ubuntu 3.19 kernel broke the audio for that board. Try 14.04 instead of 15.05 or use a mainline (not Ubuntu) kernel, or wait for 3.20.

thanks for the tip :-) i'll try 14.04, in case, that solving the problem doesn't work. I wait for the 4.2 (with better braswell support thx to intel). Until then, I can try to fix (focused on kubuntu 15.05, because it's the only one on my hdd) the sound problem.

What you mean with "mainline" kernel?
