It seems that sddm-helper is sucking the rams right up
No fix yet, for non-compiling types of folks. I am hoping this can be taken care of soon, but at least those of us experiencing this can know why and follow things

In the meantime, one can simply use a different login manager, such as lightdm-kde-greeter, or whichever one you like.

 I upgraded my guest OS from 14.04 to 14.10, so my initial installation had to be 14.04.   Now, I'm wondering how I put Plasma5 on it.  There wasn't a PPA in the sources.list, so I am pretty sure I burned an ISO and installed to get Plasma5, which was the only desktop available.
