    How to exchange with another -suse- installed hard disk. Not with a virtual machine

    Hello.
    I am still on Kubuntu 14.04 since it is availlable .
    Well my question is hard, I don't know if there is a solution. I have an old hard disk, with Mandriva, and Suse. Does it exist a software in Linux that allow to interact with this hard disk-If I put it on usb box of course-. This disk is not a virtual machine. It is a hard disk that I used a couple of years ago, I used it as my master system. It contains Operating Systems with much of my precious files. Instead of all reformating, and save the data -how boring it is to sort, to copy, to save etc...I gave up, I prefered to unmount this old hard disk, and I put a new hard disk, and I installed my current O/S Kubuntu 14.04-. I know there is a useful software named UNetbootin - https://unetbootin.github.io/ - But I don't only boot, I want a machine that is active, but my hard disk is not virtual, it is a disk installed. The very effective Virtualbox is intended for Virtual Machines, but I don't know if it exist a way to integrate my hard disk inside USB Box as a true virtual machine. In fact with my hard disk where it was installed Linux distribution, I want to transform into a virtual machine. Is it possible ? Does it exist a solution for my problem ?

      You should have no problems accessing this 'old hard disk' once you've put into a USB enclosure.

        There is no Linux Converter, but you can convert live Linux to ESX/VC destination from Windows Converter. HTH
        I do not want to use Windows at all. For me the experience of Windows stopped since 2006. Since this date I banned all Windows O/S , and the others ugglies softwares associated. I do not want to restart any others Windows experiences. Moreover, in the past I used VirtualBox too, and I saw strange behaviours, sometimes it did not recognize .vdi created by VirtualBox. After several unexpected crash, I decided to stay away of VirtualBox, this product seems to not be enough mature.

            Ok, so because of a bad experience in the past you won't use Virtual Box and you state there is no VMware solution for linux and you won't use Windows. Therefore, your task seems impossible. Good luck.

              I did not state there is no VMWare solution for Linux. I don't have the knowledges to assert such things. I posted some come comments from VMWare community. I tried to download VMWare for Linux, but I only found .exe. If there is a VMWare for Linux, OK. If now, Virtual Box is enough mature-I expected of your feedbacks. -, why not. Iam not in the position to assert something, Iam in position to ask help.

                Let's us, all of us, not get our dander up. Communicating only in 'text' form is extremely limiting. Add to that any language differences and, well...

                  The 64-bit Linux VMware Workstation Player is available here. I didn't see/find a 32-bit version; maybe such no longer is available.

                  This is a 'free' version, but I believe, has limitations unless a paid for license key is entered. So, if you need to use VMware for any previouisly created VMware configured VM's, I would start there.

                  I've used VMware in the past, but now, on my Mac PC, I'm using Oracle VirtualBox.

                    The purpose of my previous means that Iam not a pundit in this area, for that reason I posted here. Iam neither ungrateful about your job, nor asking help, because it is Kubuntu forums. The western governements are in ultra-liberal logic, they want us to pay for all, they want us to be monitored everywhere. They don't like Linux solution because of its nature : Too much free.
                    For that reason again you contribute an inestimable way for our freedom.

                      Could you give us your feedback. Is it stable ? Reliable ? If Virtualbox behaves like well, I would prefer Virtualbox than VMWare. Again my past experience does not mean Virtual Box is not a good tool. If there was problems in the past, they could correct it. The problem Iam not specialist in this area, maybe I launched program(s) that caused crash. I did not save a log to see that. In fact, if you are satisfied by Virtualbox I could experience it again

                        I am quite satisfied with VirtualBox -- Oracle VirtualBox. I emphasize 'Oracle' because there are/were two VirtualBox programs; the one available through the *buntu repositories, and Oracle's, which you get from their site (available in various Linux 'flavors'). IMO, the one from Oracle is 'better'. Installing the VBoxGuestAdditions once the VM has been created and you've installed Kubuntu gives you the seamless mouse transition between the Host and the Guest VM as well as other useful features. I'm satisfied with it.
