After System Boot I Must Unplug Headphones And Plug Back In?

After System Boot I Must Unplug Headphones And Plug Back In?

    Hi,

I just installed Kubuntu 14.04 L.T.S. 64Bit onto my desktop.
I then updated Kubuntu and everything except one thing is working.

After I boot the system I have no sound and must unplug and plug back in my headphones?
The headphones are the only audio device on this desktop(no speaker system).
The headphones are plugged into the desktop's front audio ports and nothing is plugged into the back audio ports.

How would I tell Kubuntu to only use my headphones for audio?
    Thanks!

Check your System Settings > Multimedia and verify you have the correct audio output selected.

Are your ports all connected to the same card or are the different connections? For example, mine has both Digital and Analog audio.

      Hi,

Yes, that was the problem - the default was HDMI on my GPU
so I changed it to analog audio and all is fine.

      Thanks!
