Too much HDD activity after upgrade

    Hi All,

I upgraded my system from Saucy. (AMD Phenomx6 1090T + Ati Radeon HD6790)
After upgrade there is too much HDD activity. HDD led always on and system sometimes goes too slow.

Any idea to resolve this issue?

I think that the reason is the same as here: https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...ng-performance
Kubuntu 16.04 on two computers and Kubuntu 17.04 on DELL Latitude 13

The easy way to find out what is causing it is to look at System Activities, started by simultaneously pressing Esc+Ctrl.

Click CPU and Memory to find out what is running amok.

You could also use HTOP and sort it's output by IO_RATR to see which process(es) are being disk piggy.

On the command line also, lsof lists open files, and which process has them open.
