    13.04 and Skype

I did a fresh install yesterday of 13.04 and installed Skype from the normal respoitories, the 4.1.0.20.0 from Steve Langasek. Every attempt to start Skype results in a segmentation fault (core dumped) message. Has anyone else observed this happening?

Maybe give the version from Skype's website a go.

I've got 4.0.0.8 installed and it works.
There's another thread mentioning issues with the latest so I made the older available through a dropbox account:

I have tried both the repository version and the version in a .deb from the Skype website. Both crash with a segment fault. I have a dump if it is of any use to anyone in trying to figure out why Skype crashes for me. As indicated in a more recent post about sound issues it's working for someone?

The version from the dropbox account works for me.

I cannot access this url for dropbox. I don't use dropbox so I guess that's the issue. Do you have a full version number and I'll look for it elsewhere?

Skype works here on my 13.04 64-bit (upgraded from 12.10). I originally installed Skype from Skype's download section (Ubuntu 12.04). Check to see that you have all the needed dependency packages installed:
              Reverse Depends:
              skype:i386,skype-bin:i386
              Dependencies:
              4.1.0.20.0-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 - libasound2:i386 (2 1.0.23) libc6:i386 (2 2.7) libgcc1:i386 (2 1:4.1.1) libqt4-dbus:i386 (2 4:4.5.3)

Snowhog: I have checked all my dependancies and I DO NOT have: skype-common, skype-common:i386, skype-mid, skype-mid:i386, or skype:i386. I do have a skype-bin:i386 at version 4.1.0.20. In the Kubuntu repositores I can't find the missing dependancies?

Yes, that isn't a problem. This is an easier to read listing of the required dependencies for skype-bin:

Weird, it is in the Public part and I can access it from another computer...

Anyhow, tried again and this is the outcome for a Public Link:
                        https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/....8-1_amd64.deb

And yes, that looks better than the original.
                        Sorry!
(The difference seems to be I usually use the middle mouse button for pasting, here it seems only the right button gives the correct link.
