Gimp 2,8,2 loses file name after export

It's all in the title. I mean the file name indicated at the top of the window. And when you are editing several files and want to go back to one by selecting it from the bar at the bottom (whose name I can never remember...), youmay have to plow thru every %^& file before you find the one you want.

Why did Gimp go over to exporting instead of allowing us to save a Jpg file? Or at least allow that as an option? Big mistake, in my opinion.

Here's a potential solution to your second issue.

I believe the change occurred so GIMP was more like "larger" editing programs.
