Old Style Notifications?

I got an update yesterday for several core packages of KDE and now my notifications pop up in a bland square box at the top center of the screen as opposed to the nice rounded corner box in the bottom right corner. I dug around in system settings->notifications but didnt see anything that looked relevant. I also checked workspace appearance and a few others but didnt find anything. How can I revert to the old style notifications?

a) Check that you didn't install notify-osd
b)All this should be done when KDE is not running:
login to tty2/3 or whatever you want, and:

sudo service kdm stop

Clear your cache

rm -r ~/.kde/socket-*
rm -r ~/.kde/tmp-*
rm -r ~/.kde/cache-*
sudo rm -r /var/tmp/kdecache-*
kbuildsycoca4 --noincrementa
sudo service kdm start

notify-osd was not installed.

Not sure what you mean by "login to tty2/3 or whatever you want." I assume you mean I need to boot in to cli rather then KDE?

Don't need to reboot, just press Ctrl + Alt + F2
Be carefull with these commands, so you don't delete your entire customized KDE setup, which is in
~/.kde/share/*

Thanks, one last thing, I feel stupid asking this but...how do I paste in to the cli? Do I have to type them in manually?

No such think as stupid questions, right? In Konsole, just hit Edit > Paste

I'm not THAT stupid I know how to do it in Konsole, although I prefer CTRL+SHIFT+V personally. The problem is, that when I hit Ctrl + Alt + F2 it takes me in to a purely cli environment and the keyboard shortcuts fail and there is no context menu,

No, you can't paste in TTY (it would be somewhat possible, but workaround would be more complicated). Write these commands on paper, or put them in a file and either execute, or cat them

Thanks for the tips guys, but some how they managed to fix themselves through tweaking my display settings.
