          hey guys this problem happened again! I think it has to do with the updates this morning? My drivers are ok, but when I try to install the 'post-update' version I get this error "Sorry, installation of this driver failed. Please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log"

          Someone please advise? Why are updates causing changes I don't want? I just want things to work? Now my panel is grey and I have no desktop effects...and I haven't done a thing to change them!

            Well, it's hard to tell without letting us see that log file. Two things would be helpful:

            * the Jockey log file
            * /var/log/apt/history.log

            Please post each one in a separate page at http://paste.kde.org and reply here with the URLs to the pages.

              As vinnywright wrote already it is probably the video-driver. After a clean install and before installing the correct 3D nVidia driver I have the same. The effects only work with an installed 3D video-driver. So my guess is, that something went wrong with your driver.
              Do what vinnywright wrote and write the outcome of his ideas here.
