I have been re-ripping my CD collection lately with K3B and noticed a short desktop "hang" every time I inserted a CD (about 10-15 secs.)
Today, I started getting a notice from K3B that kio_audiocd was using my CD and did I want to kill it in order to continue. I hadn't had this message over the last couple weeks I've been doing this, so I started looking into it.
It appears that when I insert a CD with Amarok running, it launches kio_audiocd and the combination of all the above is what's causing the hang. I killed Amarok and the hang went away.
I just wanted to share in case someone else had the same issue.
p.s. My CD drive also closes itself sometimes without any action from me so I now suspect Amarok is the cause of that too. We'll see...
