logging after user creation - failed to set password (kde)

I created a user then this new user tried to log. The system asked him to set new password but the new password dialog box did not respond at all and GUI hung. Of course, the password could be set by the user in text mode (after ctrl+alt+F1). Any clues?

you may have to try the 'restart x server' option at the login screen, it should work after a reboot in any case. I think KDM needs to reload the login data, so restarting the xserver should do that once kdm is reloaded.

On mine, you have to close the password box once and retry.
