Network device aliases - what settings are flexable?

I'll try to keep this brief...

I have a home server on a gigabit network connected through a 16 port switch. The server's dual NIC's are bonded (mode 0) and set for jumbo frames - MTU 7200 and currently at a txqueuelen of 20000. All this works nice and stable until I added a media device to my network.

It has built-in NFS client (but not much in the way of user configuration). After finding out it won't connect to my server, it was reported to me that it won't support jumbo frames - like many NAS share devices or so I hear.

Before I re-configure my network and give up all my tweaks, can I use a network devices alias and set it up with different settings - specifically IP and MTU?

    Any network wizards out there?
