    extracting driver from flash drive

I have a HP Mini 1000 netbook with Broadcom wlan (b43 driver) and Kubuntu 11.04.

Wlan doesn't work with said driver. I have firmware from the manufacturer on a flash drive.

I don't know how to extract from the flash drive, nor the process for installing the new driver.

I have a similar netbook and the device viewer tells me the wifi card is a BCM4312.

Jockey-kde tells me the broadcom STA wireless driver is installed and I can tell you it works

The broadcom sta driver was installed by Jockey (Additional Drivers) and is available as a package called bcmwl-kernel-source.

In case you want to go ahead with the b43 driver you need to look for the package b43-fwcutter.

Thanks for the correction, teunis. I tried to remember the name of that utility - but it's been awhile since I've needed it. I too have an HP Mini (mines a 110) and the sta driver works fine.
