This morning's upgrades blew up both a 32-bit and 64-bit machine. Got the netbook fixed but had to go to work before I could get the desktop fixed so I just installed lxde on it and left for the office - I'll sort it out later.
I used muon to upgrade both machines, which in hindsight might not have been the best idea I ever had as I'm not sure it supports blocked updates - which may have been what caused the issue. Anyway, the 64-bit desktop was left with a prompt that said X couldn't find startkde, which was when I installed lxde, ran that to make sure it worked and went to the office.
So I get to the office and hook up the netbook. Netbook says 164 upgrades are available so I run that upgrade, and the new linux-headers-2.6.35.21-generic, the linux-headers-generic metapackage, man-db, samba and kdm all fail to install properly.
Ran "dpkg --configure -a" a couple times, deleted dpkg's lockfile once and rebooted once then the packages installed as they should and everything's working okay, but today was one scary update.
Also, the "general" font on the netbook keeps changing to Andale Mono 12 instead of the DejaVu Sans 9 that I've used for a year. The change takes but when I run konsole or sometimes just running systemsettings causes the general font to change.
Strange.
