    Minor annoyances

Maverick beta is a bit of a disappointment to me. I works, but I expected a bit smoother transition from lucid. So far I still experience some minor problems:
    1. grub & plymouth
My grub config is screwed up - no hi-res any more, splash image is gone, fonts no longer display non-ascii characters properly. It looks like grub is ignoring my old config files.
Plymouth - no hi-res. I can't even change a theme with the newest 2.6.35 kernels. All I get is a nasty purple boot screen, even though there should be a Kubuntu logo instead.
    2. Pulseaudio & kmix
I have 2 sound cards. I use onboard Intel Audio for Skype and Sound Blaster Live for everything else. In Lucid I managet to force Alsa to recognize Live as the primary audio device. No such luck in Maverick. I've had to change multimedia preferences in systemsettings. Playback works all right but kmix still shows Intel Audio as primary device. Minor annoyance, but it screws volume control. So far I know too little about pulseaudio to solve the problem.

Good thing I've finally solved nvidia problem. Big thanks for verndog, doctordruidphd and bitzbox for help

    Re: Minor annoyances

You might be able to resolve the sound card issues by installing Pulase Audio Device Chooser in the package "padevchooser". At a minimum, it will give you some more settings to fool around with.

    Anyway good luck,

Issue 1 is solvable and there are several posts here on how to - including one from me.

I had trouble with pulseaudio at my initial install so I just removed it and have had no sound issues since. IMO it's not quite ready, but that was several months ago. My initial install was day 1 of the 10.04 release.
