Keyboard and Mouse don't work - Kubuntu 10.04 64-bit/Win7 Dual Boot laptop

    Hi -

I'm running a Compaq Presario CP81 Laptop dual booting Win7 and Kubuntu 10.04 64-bit. It's been working fine for several months without any problems.

Now since about 1 month when I load Kubuntu from GRUB, the laptop keyboard and mouse aren't working. I see the login screen for Kubuntu, but I can't type anything or move the mouse. It works fine for GRUB, and it works fine in Windows, but it fails everytime in Kubuntu.

Any idea what's happening here and how I can log back into Kubuntu?

    Thanks!

I have this issue now also.. I cannot boot into kubuntu.. It just drops keyboard and mouse support at the login screen.. Has this been addressed at all yet?

keyboard and mouse support are part of the xserver. You might look and see if you have /etc/X11/xorg.conf and if so, rename or delete it and restart.

Also read the file: /var/log/Xorg.0.log and see if it gives any clues.
