setting up home server - how?

I want to set up a home server for NFS, FTP, email.

Actually, I have no idea how it works.
I tried to set up samba but it is not running, cause I have no idea, which settings are necessary.

Does anyone know a good manual, tutorial, etc. which explain it for dummies?

    Thanks.

Try having a look at the official documentation.

    https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/serverguide/C/index.html

hope this helps get you started.

        Thanks Batty and arochester.

        Batty ,
this is exactly the manual which I tried to use, but at least for samba, it didn't help me.
Do I have to go through it from beginning till end, because I picked out only the samba part?

        arochester,
this manual is made for ubuntu 9.10 but I am using kubuntu 10.04, can I still use it?

If it's NFS you're looking to set up, look no further than this tutorial. It is very simple and easy to follow. Sometimes I even refer back to it when I forget something
