Sound issues

Since Lucid has been released I've been using it but I am having problems with my sound. Everything works as it should except that it sounds horrible. It's like there is a lot of noise coming out of the speakers.

How can I fix that? or should I change to OSS instead of ALSA and if I should, how to do that?

I appreciate your help.

90% of the time sound distortion is caused by having mixer volumes at maximum. Turn the mixer volume down and increase it at the speakers.
