I'm a long time DOS/Windows person and just getting started with Linux. I'm trying to boot up an install of Kubuntu 6.10 on a Pentium II Gateway 2000 G6 266.
Here's its specs
256MB RAM
2 HD's (1 on Primary IDE and 1 on Secondary IDE, both Masters)
Updated Pheonix BIOS
Some info....It crashes with the following
140.582887 <c03f0210> unknown_boot option+0x0/0x270
140.583122 Code : 89 cd 89 5c ...(more hex code but I didn't list the whole thing)
140.586748 <0> kernal panic-not synching: fatal exception in integer
I have tried disconnecting both HD's, changing boot order, verified md5sums for .iso image and checked the CD using the Kubuntu menu(I think)
Any help would be appreciated. I really want to cut my Windows dependence.....
