    Re: Help the Idiot

    First sudo aptitude pppoeconf
this makes sure you have the necessary packages
    Then sudo pppoeconf
    follow the setup instuctions

Never used it myself but it might be a start
    ~$sudo make me a sandwich

          In the konsole type:

          sudo pppoeconf

Enter your password when asked and follow the prompt.

                    Re: Help the Idiot

OK, start by clicking on the K icon in the panel, scroll up to where it says "system" , a menu will open up, find Konsole terminal program and open it. You should see username@boxname~$. This is the prompt.

                    At the prompt type:sudo pppoeconf
Then type your password when asked.

The program will open up in the terminal/konsole. Just answer the questions to configure it.

Like I said I have never used it so I can't tell you what to expect.

Is this a DSL connection or dial up?

I was just looking at the 295.ca site and it's mostly dial up but they do offer a DSL service(high speed)

I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. I don't have any experience with DSL and without knowing whats on the cd I am stumped. There is probable a tar file or something on the cd that you would copy to hard disc and unpack. there should be a read me file with it somewhere. That's the only other thing I can think of. Browse the cd to see whats on it.
