I have an HP DeskJet 950C printer that works fine with XP. When I reach the last stage of setting it up with 6.06 (Admin mode) a dialog box pops up saying that the driver is not available or that I do not have permission. If the driver (recommended) is listed why doesn't it work? I've tried the other listed drivers to no avail. Help please.

Re: Printing with Kubuntu 6.06
The LinuxPrinting.org website is the first resort for all printing problems. Here is the HP950C page. Have you downloaded the 'hplip" package? It should have been installed automagically, but it doesn't hurt to check. Another thing to try is to do the printer setup as root. Right click on the desktop, then click "run command" and enter "kdesu kcontrol" then navigate to the printer installation page.

Re: Printing with Kubuntu 6.06
I looked into this thread hoping that there was driver/printing hope for us Lexmark Z45 users; I take it there is still is no hope? Guess I need to buy a printer that's compatible with Linux Kubuntu and give my kid the Lexmark.
Is there a list somewhere of printers (inkjets) that I can easily use with Kubuntu?
Thanks people.

Re: Printing with Kubuntu 6.06
Of course there is. Up near the top of the thread, I recommended the LinuxPrinting.org website. If you go there you will find this page of suggestions. However, my own briefer recommendation would be get an HP.Is there a list somewhere of printers (inkjets) that I can easily use with Kubuntu?
