[RESOLVED] MS Edge opens but freezes

Dell Studio XPS 8100 with a 1 TB ssd, 16GB ram
    OS: Kubuntu 26.04

I installed microsoft-edge-stable_151.0.4129.86-1_amd64.debb. It opens but then freezes. All I can do is close it. It never asks if I want to sync my shortcuts across all my devices. I cannot enter a url in the address bar. Nothing works. All I can do is close it. Ideas?

    Thank you for your time.

right click edge again - edit application
the program should say /usr/bin/microsoft-edge ,and the command line argument --disable-gpu %u

Same things happen when I installed the Brave browser from Snap. Ideas?

        disable GPU acceleration
        please try
        Code:
        microsoft-edge --disable-gpu
        or
        Code:
        microsoft-edge-stable --disable-gpu
        for brave:
        Code:
        brave --disable-gpu
        or
        Code:
        brave-browser --disable-gpu
If neither command exists, tell me what you get from:
        Code:
        which brave
        Code:
        which brave-browser

          Thanks die.boer,

I issued the first edge command you mentioned above... when I do that Edge opens up normal as it should and is usable. However, when I close Edge and open it using its icon it reverts back to the issue I mentioned in my original message above. More ideas?

Again.... thank you for your time.

Right-click the Edge icon in your application menu - Edit Application.
Look for the command line argument
It will probably contain something similar to:
            %U
            Change it to:
            --disable-gpu %U
            Save it.

I've done as you instructed above. Edge now opens and is functional... However... when it opens it displays the tab as shown in the image below. Ideas?
