    WiFi issue

Post moved by Administrator Snowhog with reference to thread added.

    Hi all,
I have read through the excellent and helpful feedback in this thread, but I have a slight variation on the problem that I would like to raise if I may.

I am running Kubuntu 26.04 on an HP 250 G4 laptop, 16GB RAM with a 500GB SSD (LUKS encrypted). Once I performed the upgrade to this version of Kubuntu, this has been happening.
    1. The computer starts up fine.
    2. Login works without any issues (both LUKS and user logins).
    3. Once logged in, the problem starts. The system keeps on connecting and then disconnecting the wifi card. As a result, there is no internet connectivity. I am currently connected by using my cellphone via USB tethhering.
I have researched and found that one option is to upgrade the BIOS to bring it alignment with the stricter hardware requirements of this version of Kubuntu. I have prepared a Windows PE memory stick to boot into, so that I can run the BIOS update from there, as this is simpler than running it via Linux.

I then ran into a second problem. The computer is also not detecting bootable USB devices. at startup when I startup using the F9 key.

I would be most grateful for advice with regard to overcoming these two challenges.

    Thanks in advance.

for the boot device priority, you should find somewhere in the BIOS a way to change the boot order or which devices to check and what order during boot.

generally you want USB first, optical drive (if you still have one), then your main drive with your OS of choice on it, and perhaps a fall back bootable drive of a backup image if nothing else is found.
