Nvidia Driver Issue Post-Upgrade from 25.10 to 26.04 LTS

Hi, most excellent Kubuntu designers and users.

I have been using "NVIDIA driver (open kernel) metapackage from nvidia-driver-595-open (proprietary, tested)" on 25.10 for multiple months and it worked beautifully.
The graphics card is a GeForce RTX 5070.
I upgraded my Kubuntu system to 26.04 LTS yesterday and the display now occasionally stutters in both X11 and Wayland when gaming. (It didn't stutter when playing the same game in 25.10.)
Can anyone provide knowledgeable advice or a link to information that will fix this?

Thank you very much in advance!

The 7.o kernel will not work with Nvidia proprietary as of yet. I don't have your set up and can not recreate, but there are reports of bugs with the open driver on this version of Resolute Kubuntu 26.04. Namely the suspend and certain gaming glitches. It is a matter of time before these issues are sorted, and it has been noted as a bug. I always mention, wait for more experienced advise on this issue, as they may know a fix. It is my experience if you do not want to wait for a fix, the alternative would be to roll back, or if you some how still have the older kernel to boot up on, which I think can only happen via something like Timeshift.
Reproducing this on different hardware (Framework Laptop 16, AMD Ryzen 7940HS with RTX 5070 Max-Q) on Ubuntu 26.04 kernel 7.0.0-14-generic. Same symptoms — lid-close s2idle suspend never resumes, hard reset required. I isolated kernel vs driver independently: Kernel 6.17.0-22 + nvidia loaded → works Kernel 6.17.0-22 + nvidia blacklisted → works Kernel 7.0.0-14 + nvidia loaded → hangs Kernel 7.0.0-14 + nvidia blacklisted (module_blacklist=nvidia_drm,nvidia_modeset,nvidia_uvm,nvidia) → works S...
