Is Kubuntu live boot via USB C possible?

    Hello guys,

I want to try Kubuntu on my Dell Latitude 7320 2 in 1 detachable, which only allows to plug in USB-C devices.

Since it would not be the classical Situation where you have a USB-Stick as a booting device, my question is:

Is it generally possible to boot Kubuntu from USB-C?

I know that it will still depend on the individual device. My goal is to check Kubuntu out from the USB-C device and See if it supports auto rotation and camera properly. But if this goal is technically impossible, it would already be really helpful to know.

Most definitely, USB-C works fine. I almost exclusively use it myself. It can be a flash drive, or an external HDD or SSD in an enclosure, even. You can install the OS to a USB drive as well (SSDs are preferred here).

I am not quite sure about using USB-A- to C adapters with flash drives, but only because I can't remember if I have used one for an installation in the past or not. I am sure those are fine.

Rotation should be fine, but an on screen keyboard may or may not work.
Use the current release, Not the old LTS.

You might give the 26.04 beta a spin, which should have the new (and working) osk. It is out in a few weeks.

The MIPI ipu6 webcam(s) *may* be a problem, though current releases or the beta might have better support, but Dell do have Ubuntu repos for such things,.
An example that may be outdated now.
A live session will reveal this, but if it is not working, it may just take some extra work.
