Full Disk Encryption and Two Hard Drives - what steps do I need to take?

I just got my new Framework 16 Laptop, which has two SSDs in it - the intent is to use a 1 TB SSD for the boot / system drive, and a 2 TB SSD for my Home folder(s), so that I can wipe the OS if needed and not lose any user data.

I'm able to install Kbuntu 25.10 without issue, using the wizard. I do see how to mount the second drive under /home from googling up the process.

I'm running into a challenge at two spots:

    1) When I install Kbuntu, the wizard asks me to either format and install to one drive, or to manually partition the two drives. I'm running into challenges when partitioning the boot drive and trying to use full disk encryption - what is the proper (or better) way to do FDE on the boot drive?

    2) When the second drive is encrypted, and then I mount it under /home, KDE hangs after login. I am assuming that it's not unlocking the second drive before login happens. Is there a way to properly configure this, so that the drives unlock at boot, before login?

    Thank you for the guidance!
