How do you activate the keyboard number pad when restarting Kubuntu? I mean before logging in.

    I don't mean this:

You might just have to toggle the NumPad ON (or OFF/ON) at the SDDM Login Screen. Works fine here on my Kubuntu 25.10 with Plasma (Wayland) and Plasma (X11).

Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

There may be a BIOS setting for this as well.

I checked in the bios and it is turned on there.

I have dual boot, Kubuntu and Windows on my PC. Could that have something to do with it not working?

I don't *think* so, but you never know. I have always needed to adjust a bios setting for numlock (if available) to have it available early.

I vaguely recall a utility called numlockx or something similar that did this, but this would have been in the olden tymes, so may not be valid today.

          BUT:

If you need it just at the login screen, you might be able to get it enabled there by using the "Apply Plasma Settings" options.

If you don't want to apply all the settings to SDDM, you can also manually edit SDDM to turn numlock on there
