Konsole not working

I'm new to Kubuntu and not a Linux power user at all. I know enough to be dangerous.
Shortly after installing Kubuntu 24.4 Konsole stopped working. Konsole loads up but I can't type anything. The white cursor doesn't move or blink.
I tried removing and reinstalling Konsole but it didn't helpl
I installed two other terminal apps and had the same result.
What do I do when I can't use command line to try to fix this?

OK, got it working but not sure how. I uninstalled and reinstalled again and now it's working.

Well, thought it was working. I got one line:
sudo apt install XXXX
It then asks for password and it freezes up.
Still need a bit of help.

Wow! am I embarrassed. It was working all along. When asking for password it doesn't show up while typing. Security thing I suppose.
