    Fixing and external hard drive

I cant mount my external hard drive, i get the following message: An error occurred while accessing 'QUIPUITO', the system responded: The requested operation has failed: Error mounting /dev/sda1 at /media/quipu/QUIPUITO: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1, missing codepage or helper program, or other error. I wonder what program can I use in kubuntu 24.04 to fix it

How is the drive formatted? Was it being used on a Windows PC?

is it a ntfs format? If so ntfsfix sometimes will cure that, but that for me only proved to be temporary. Linux does not really like microsoft format, so it may be best to move that data over to a ext4 formatted drive, if it is ntfs.
