How to make bootable ISO of Kubuntu 25

I'm currently on KUB 25.04 and want to upgrade to the latest, V.25.10. However no matter how I try the downloaded update file will NOT complete the update based on the supplied instructions.
Even when using the built-in "Discover" tool I get an error msg that says, "there was an issue with the update process..." with just normal existing program updates. So I know there's a core issue preventing the upgrade.

How can I make a bootable ISO of V.25.10 so I can start with a fresh install of Kubuntu rather than update-over a compromised system?

Keep in my I am NOT a Linux code monkey, and the "sudo" commands are still very much rocket-science to me - but I'm learning.

There are numerous reports of the upgrade tool not working, at least on Reddit. Make sure you have updated.

I suggest using apt to do this, and report if it shows any phased updates.

Most people seem to have success upgrading from the cli using do-release-upgrade.

Here's the instructions I attempted to follow, right from the Kubuntu download page:

During the update process, regardless which method I get tons of line item errors saying something about "snap error..." and then the update stops entirely.

I don't want to continue a process that's simply NOT working. How do I create a bootable ISO of the latest 25.10 image? I just want to start fresh.

Same as you did for 25.04, or any other Linux ISO.

You should have the Startup Disk Creator tool available, search for it in your application menu, but you can use other tools like Ventoy, or Etcher.

If I may, I would suggest that you backup your valuables, and do a clean install of Kubuntu, with a bootable USB stick.
So If you like, you can do it like this:

• Download the relevant ISO file from here: Download Kubuntu | Kubuntu
• Download Rufus from here: Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way

Make sure you are connected to the internet.
Insert your USB stick to your windows computer and run Rufus.
At the questions it will ask you, respond with the recommended values that rufus prompts you.
Once it starts running, choose your USB stick from the top left menu.
At its main window, next to the "Boot Selection", choose the "SELECT" button and select the ISO you just downloaded.
Click "Start" and again at the questions it will ask you, respond with the recommended values that prompts you.
Once the progress bar finishes, you will see the completion button.
Remove your USB stick and reboot with it to your new Kubuntu setup!

THAT is precisely my plan - now at least I have an application that will handle creating the ISO file without requiring me to be a "sudo" code monkey.

All my critical data is on a physically separate HDD (both are blade-style SSD's) so I don't care about backing up the OS-drive. Everything critical for my business is on the other internal - which is backed up to a SDXC anyway.

I'll report back results.
