    How to create bootable USB stick with Rufus?

    Hi,

    I followed instructions of some YT video, downloaded the latest Kubuntu iso, installed Rufus. Starting the stick writing, there´s an error message:
    ISO has grub 2.14 but Rufus has 2.12
    So I select the option to download 2.14. But there is no feedback if that worked or not. Booting from the stick I see it didn´t work.
    And that´s where I´m stuck. What now?

    Thanks

    Meanwhile I'm a step further, using Ventoy instead of Rufus. Kubuntu now boots, but is stuck at the login screen. Alas, different topic.

      Which kubuntu release?
      You might have a bad download, or even a bad spot on the USB stick, so those are worth checking

      You can verify the image;
      https://kubuntu.org/alternative-down...20writing%20an

      But at the moment you need to get the checksum for 25.10 directly from the download server;
      https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/releases/

      Here is the official ubuntu doc on using Rufus, which does mention that Etcher is preferred, and easier to use. Ventoy is great, especially if one has a larger USB stick. And it saves wear and tear on the sticks as well.

      Login screen, for an installed OS? There shouldn't be a login on the live ISO session.
