    Splash screen Goes Crazy

I've returned to Linux after years in the Microsoft wilderness and installed Ubuntu and then KDE Plasma Ver. 5.27.12 I switched from straight Ubuntu because it routinely locked up after opening normally. Once I got Kubuntu running, I had only one problem; the splash screen with the login window (username and password) would appear garbled, or invisible. A soft reboot would show the KUbuntu logo and then a different garbled screen. I could start again, go into GRUB, and come out with something usable, but the next time, it was garbled again. I have tried various login screens, but each has issues. Can anyone point me to a fail safe login screen?

generally just installing KDE onto ubuntu will not give you a good user experience

the efforts the kubuntu team put into making everything work together are well worth you time install.

You may well be right, but I can't go back and start over because I have done too much configuring of applications in the meantime. I'll come back here with a report later on what works.

chances are pretty good that if you simply saved your
        Code:
        ~/config
        and
        Code:
        ~/.local
folders to a thumb drive and copied their contents back into those same folders on your fresh install that, that you would get back 90% of all your settings.

you would, of course, still have to re-install all the packages, but at least your settings would still be there waiting.

How about trying Kubuntu 25.04 so you are using Plasma 6 with it's many bug fixes and new features, also turn off adaptive sync as that generally helps screen weirdness.
