    Cannon Printer TS7540i

Hi Guys, Im new here and to KUBUNTU 24.04.3 LTS.
Question. Regarding installing a Cannon Printer TS7140i. I have it installed as a Cannon TS8000 (nearest printer driver listed, did try TS6000 but same result). with CUPS-Gutenprint V5.3.4
Sending a test print KUBUNTU says print finished 100% (or words to that effect). But at the printer, nothing comes out. in fact there is no response from printer at all.
Any ideas on how I can resolve this problem?

    Many thanks for readin.

    Probably this:

If you have this as a network or wireless setup, you probably will be able to use it 'driverless'. Even the printer, possibly. That might Just Work.

Hi, Yes, it is on a wired network. Ethernet over main to router, Wifi from router to printer.
I do not have a clue how to set it up without drivers. The system detects the printer.

Your Canon docs may tell you how to set it up using the WPS button on your wireless router.

As an example, on mine, with an HP printer (and I had the same problem you stated in OP & other issues with CUPS), it is like this:

1 On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button for 3 seconds (icon looks like a bunch of stacked concentric quarter-circles/arcs).
That causes the Wireless signal bars on the printer display to blink.
2 On the wireless router, press and hold the WPS button for 3 seconds (and release it).
        Wait about 2 minutes.
Note: After the printer connects successfully, the Wireless light (on the printer) stops blinking and stays on.

Hi thanks for your response. The printer is connected to the router. I can print from other windows PCs
          Thanks

The link I posted is for the Linux driver deb.

This should work. Just double click it, or right click and open with Discover (preferred imo).
