    [RESOLVED] No WiFi?

Hi, very new to Linux here and trying to learn how to work it so would appreciate some help if possible please
I dont seem to have any wifi connections available from the laptop and I am pretty sure wifi is somehow disabled but cant find a way to turn it on/off?

I have installed Kubuntu 25.04 on a HP Probook 650 G1, It is the only OS installed, and was installed from a USB created with rufus. KDE plasma version is 6.3.4

I have ran the inxi command and it returns the following network information

    Network:
    Device-1: Intel Ethernet I217-V vendor: Hewlett-Packard driver: e1000e
    v: kernel port: 3080 bus-ID: 00:19.0 chip-ID: 8086:153b class-ID: 0200
IF: enp0s25 state: up speed: 1000 Mbps duplex: full mac: 50:65:f3:bd:cc:bd
    Device-2: Broadcom BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n driver: bcma-pci-bridge v: N/A
    pcie:speed: 2.5 GT/s lanes: 1 bus-ID: 02:00.0 chip-ID: 14e4:4359
    class-ID: 0280

I have ran the following command
    lspci -vv | egrep -i 'network|wireless|wifi|wlan|w-lan|802'

    and it returns the folllowing

02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n
    DeviceName: WLAN

The laptop has no Fn button to enable wifi but instead it as its own standalone wifi button, this is permanently orange and if I press it, it toggles the bluetooth on and off.
I have checked in the BIOS and wifi is enabled.

I really dont know where to go with this from here, I have done some googling, this doesnt seem uncommon but most trails sadly go dead without how it was resolved

Any help would be appreciated thanks

Have you looked at the Driver Manager?

At the very least you probably need bcmwl-kernel-source but this means you need to use the Ethernet or usb tether connection to get it. The Driver Manager *should* offer this, I think.
The Ubuntu wiki seems to be down, so the documentation may or may not be there

I have been struggling with bcmwl-kernel-source all morning, constantly running into the unable to locate package error, tried allowing restricted repositorys and all sorts to no avail.
I have just stumbled upon something else

      https://askubuntu.com/questions/5586...reless-drivers

and I ran the command sudo apt install formware-b43-installer

installed this and after a reboot I have wifi again.
I will say this.. it has been maddening at how much searching I have had to do for this!
