I want to upgrade to 24.1 from LTS because I...

I want to upgrade to 24.1 from LTS because I can't use ZOOM on my current install of 24.04 because there are unsatisfied dependencies. I have never had this problem. Zoom has been no help. THE BIG problem with LTS now is I have notification that my disc is full (256 GB) I hardly use this device and can only see 134 GB used by home and no other large directories on the rest of the drive. Do I back it up and do a clean install? Or do I do and upgrade and override the LTS barrier to upgrading until 26.04? Please help.

Can can you show the specific dependencies or errors? Zoom is fully supported on LTS, I just installed it here for a test last week.

Having a completely or very nearly full drive will also prevent package installs, updates, and upgrades. The messaging and errors can be a bit odd and not clear for this, though.
If you have a separate /home, your "/" may be full. This is where your applications and OS live.

If so, you could resize things from a live Kubuntu USB session using Partition Manager or other tools.

    Let's check:

Navigate to the folder where you have the Zoom deb
hit F4 to toggle a terminal panel
    enter
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt install zoom_amd64.deb
(or whatever the exact name of the file is)
Post the warnings and errors you see.
Then show us the drive space you have:
    df -h

You can try some cleanup actions that may help for the moment if space really is low:
    • sudo apt autoremove will uninstall packages that are no longer needed.-- post the list if you are not sure about what it offers.
    • Uninstall any software you don't use.
    • If you don't have a speparate /home and /, any large files like videos can be transferred to a different drive. Same for Steam Libraries. Virtual machines if you use those.
For a really good picture of space usage, a tool like Filelight is an excellent KDE utility.

are you using the "+/-" on the top row of keys or are you using the num pad ones

it only works with the top row keys unless you change the shortcut in Desktop Effects > zoom

Closing this thread. Start a new one if needed to address this (or other) issues you might have with Kubuntu 25.04.
