    Laptop+External monitor

I just tried kubuntu (live version) today and I`m completely amazed by the fact that I could download, after 4 copy to burn it (not just copy) to a CD, it was runing well even the wifi worked with no touch! But I couldn`t get my external monitor to work with my laptop, do I need to downlad something becuse in the settings there were options for multiple monitors, exept it seemd to be "blank"...

    Hello

    I have a "similar" problem...

I have a Targa notebook with a 9 pin VGA out.

    lspci gives me this:

0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133] (rev 80)
0000:00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133 AGP]
0000:00:08.0 CardBus bridge: O2 Micro, Inc. OZ6812 Cardbus Controller (rev 05)
0000:00:10.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): VIA Technologies, Inc. IEEE 1394 Host Controller (rev 46)
0000:00:11.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8231 [PCI-to-ISA Bridge] (rev 10)
0000:00:11.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586A/B/VT82C686/A/B/VT823x/A/C PIPC Bus Master IDE (rev 06)
0000:00:11.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 1e)
0000:00:11.3 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 1e)
0000:00:11.4 Bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8235 ACPI (rev 10)
0000:00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 40)
0000:00:11.6 Communication controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. Intel 537 [AC97 Modem] (rev 20)
0000:00:12.0 Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6102 [Rhine-II] (rev 51)
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. VT8636A [ProSavage KN133] AGP4X VGA Controller (TwisterK) (rev 01)

So, with the screen on the laptop everything is ok, but, when I hook up a second LCD screen and reboot my system, it works, but it just copies my primary desktop. I'd like to have a second desktop...

I searched around on the forums, but I can't find this problem, most have problems when using 2 cards (vga+pci) or tv-out, never 9pin vga out...

    Thx for any help.

The xinerama howto on the Ubuntu wiki only covers, ATI and nvidia display cards, but you may find some information you can use.
