[Multimedia] Buggy sound recording / wrong microphone selection

    Hi all,

I've been experiencing problems with my Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 microphone for half a year now on both 17.04 and 17.10 on two different computers.
Basically, when I try to record in Google Chrome or any Google Chrome app it selects the wrong microphone. I haven't tried different application since I don't have any so I can't say will the problem persist there.
I have my C920 microphone configured as the default one.
Also, in Google Chrome settings I've configured the microphone to use.
Both measures didn't help and just ignored.
There is only once way to record something from that mic - is to select it in PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) which I had to install specifically to overcome this bizarre issue. I start recording sound, then run pavucontrol, go to Recording tab, see that the client is using wrong mic, and select the correct one. Unfortunately in applications like Telegram or WhatsApp this doens't work because you have to hold some screen button while recording and this prevents you from leaving the window and thus - using pavucontrol.
Working...
