      Claydoh, can't thank you enough for the help. nano reminds me of the oldschool Telnet window that I used to use for Pine email. Yes, much easier to use, and already installed.

      When I try to write to the file, I get a message that it's read only, and I'm not able to save my changes.

        You need to use nano with sudo, or as root, depending on the OS of the server.
