Kubuntu 16.04 WiFi doesn't work

      got to a point where VLC player plays both audio and video easily, but both Amarok and Dragon are totally dead. Amarok will put the selected track into the list, but won't start playing it.

        next check to see that Amarok is using the correct audio device ,,,,wile it should be playing some thing ,,,click the speaker icon in the system tray and go to the "Applications" tab and "drag" Amarok to the output device your listening on.

          With VLC you have a very good video player. For audio files, if Amarok is not working right now it's not a great loss. You can install Clementine, then when you have time you can play with Amarok. Amarok has only recently started working - out of the box - for my desktop and laptop, but Clementine is a worthy stand-in.
