    Switching to NV proprietary driver

I saw that Kubuntu went for the x.org.x server driver, which seems to be causing some flickering which I do not have with the proprietary nv driver that came with Mint.

So I wonder if I can just change to the NV driver metapackage NV 510 proprietary under "Software Sources/Additional Drivers" without breaking the OS. I am asking because I tried that on another distri and actually broke it doing so.

    I have a RTX2080.

Just select the driver in the Driver Manager, and hit apply and then you will have to reboot. You should not have any problems.

Select the Nvidia drivers. The other option is nouveau/nv, the open source driver, which is probably already selected and in use. Hit apply, wait for it to do its thing, and reboot when it tells you. If you have any problems let us know.
