    Today's Vivaldi update

Hi, folks, this morning a notification popped up about an update which i found to be for Vivaldi, as memory serves, updating from v 5.2 something to v 5.3 something. i did as i always do and clicked install all, restarted when asked, and he presto, Vivaldi seemed to have disappeared from my system. It would not start from any of the usual places, and on 'Discover', Vivaldi was not listed on 'installed'.
So, using Firefox, i went to the Vivaldi downloads page, and found that 5.2... was the latest, so downloaded again and installed using 'sudo dpkg -i file name' and vivaldi popped up from the task bar icon as usual.
Two questions. Where can i find the details of completed updates, and has anyone else suffered the same problem?
Thanks, KeithM (BTW Kubuntu 21.10 Plasma 5.22.5)

    Hello Keith,
I use Vivaldi and found as you do that the Latest version is 5.2.2623.24-1 in the stable branch.
You can view the update history by going to /var/log/apt/history. It will be a long list but scroll through until you find the vivaldi update. It should tell you what was updated.
    Good luck.

      Hi, thanks for that.
i had to use 'grep "install" /var/log/dpkg.log' but this is the log i found:

      2022-04-05 12:18:28 status installed man-db:amd64 2.9.4-2
      2022-04-06 10:16:35 status half-installed vivaldi-stable:amd64 5.1.2567.73-1
      2022-04-06 10:16:51 status installed vivaldi-stable:amd64 5.2.2623.24-1
      2022-04-06 10:16:51 status installed desktop-file-utils:amd64 0.26-1ubuntu2
      2022-04-06 10:16:52 status installed mailcap:all 3.69ubuntu1
      2022-04-06 10:42:46 startup archives install
      2022-04-06 10:42:49 status half-installed vivaldi-stable:amd64 5.2.2623.24-1
      2022-04-06 10:43:02 status installed vivaldi-stable:amd64 5.2.2623.24-1
      2022-04-06 10:43:03 status installed mailcap:all 3.69ubuntu1
      2022-04-06 10:43:03 status installed desktop-file-utils:amd64 0.26-1ubuntu2

Unfortunately, it looks as though the update offered was from 5.1... to 5.2.... and not as i remembered it, but the result was the same, the update at 10.16 took my working version away, and that was why i had to download and install afresh at 10.42.
My knowledge does not extend to understanding what is indicated by 'half-installed' as against 'installed', but maybe i should be grateful for small mercies and just accept that i got it back!

Congrats on figuring it out. One of the things I like about vivaldi is it has a very good sync capability.
