    3d acceleration

New to Kubuntu it's the best.

    I have a Acer Aspire 3500 with a SiSM661mx Mirage Graphics card

I seem to have 3d graphics but no 3d accerleration is there a driver for this I could download to get it working. i've spent three days now on google and at the acer, sis and other websites looking with no success. It might even be there but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    From ubuntu forum (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=189713)

    atom12 says

    No ways giving up!!!

    Try the following link:

This guy is a genius. I downloaded the driver, copied it over - and it works.

    Cheers

Hmm - seems that Thomas Winischhofer is giving/selling drivers for SiS.

Therefore, starting Dec 8, 2005, there are two versions of the X driver available:

    1. The Free Version. This version is free for download and use and its codebase will from time to time be committed to the X.org CVS so that it shows up in releases of X.org.
    2. The Premium Version. This version is only available in binary form and for a fee. It has advanced features not available in the Free Version.
I don't know if they work (i have ati).
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?
    1. Thread: Please explain how to access old kubuntu forum posts
    2. Thread: Lost Information

dunno how recent this info is, but looking here:
http://www.winischhofer.at/linuxsispart1.shtml#detailed if you read way down in the dri section, your chipset may not support it. Its a big read, so maybe I missed recent info, however.

      Once again: There is no DRI/OpenGL/3D support for the SiS 6326, 5597/5598, 530/620, 315, 550, 650, 651, 740, 330, 661, 741, 760, 761 including all model variations with letters in the model number.
