    Not Recognizing External Monitor

I am loving Kubuntu and KDE but am a bit new to systems level stuff. I am on Kernel 4.7.6 and Kubuntu 16.04. I was hoping someone could help me with an issue I am having with my MSI GS63VR with a NVIDIA GTX 1060 in it. I have two ports, an HDMI and a thunderbolt, neither of which are working to use an external monitor. I've done some research but my issue seems to be a few steps short of where everyone else is. In Display Settings the external monitor(s) are not being detected.

    When I run

    Code:
    xrandr -q
    The output is...

    Code:
    Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
    eDP1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm

I appreciate any help anyone can offer!!

    Added:
Well, that was fast. Here is what I did to fix it.

    sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall

    disable UEFI secure boot

    reboot

External monitor now recognized via thunderbolt port.

    :-)
