    Videolan problems

Have moved back from the kubuntu 15.10 to 15.04-15.10 played havoc on my system.

    VLC PROBLEM:
    Screen message:
    KDEInit could not launch 'ksystraycmd':
    Could not open library '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkdeinit5_ksystraycmd'.
Cannot load library /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkdeinit5_ksystraycmd: (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libkdeinit5_ksystraycmd.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)

Have deleted VLC & reinstalled several times but get the same above result.
    Any ideas?

Have you removed the VLC configuration folder from your users home directory? I'd suggest doing so and then doing a re-install of VLC.

      Thanks for your reply.
Rebooted - VLC giving me exactly the same message!

Weird things are happening: Muon Software indicates that VLC is not installed.
However, the Application Launcher is still showing it!!

How did you go about "moving back" to 15.04 ?

Clean install ,,,,,,did you keep your old /home ?

those errors are for ksystraycmd' ,,,,,,,,which would bee your system tray ,,,,,and 15.04 did have some trouble with the system tray I think

have you (if a clean install) fully updated the system ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
        Code:
        sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
        VINNY
        i7 4core HT 8MB L3 2.9GHz
        16GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 860M 4GB RAM 1152 cuda cores

After a reboot, VLC was not in the App Launcher.
I install VLC again. Trying to run it gets the same problem message.
Looks like I'll have to do a new install. What do you think?

does running vlc through konsole work at all?

have you upgraded Plasma/Applications/frameworks/etc via the kubuntu-backports ppa, as the stock versions present in 15.04 are terribly buggy for most. This is the only place for KDE updates for Vivid
