    Installation of digikam 4.11.0

I need advice on how to do the initial steps of installing digikam-4.11.0:
    README LOCAL
This files describes how to install digiKam software compilation from
the git repository, while keeping a system-wide digikam software compilation
    install.

This procedure is based on the boostrap script boostrap.local

    1. Set the root directory for your git install in boostrap.local (MYROOT variable)
    2. If you want a clean build directory, set CLEANROOT to 1
The rest I can probably manage

This will get you the latest digikam, 4.14 if you are using Kubuntu 14.04 or 15.04.
15.10 has 4.12 already, I haven't seen newer packages for Wily in a ppa yet.

Is there a reason you want to compile and install the source, and a non-current version? It can be a pain in the butt finding and installing all the build dependencies, but is a cool , fun thing to learn to be sure.

You can ignore the readme local file, that is for a special case. There should be another file in source tarball somewhere with instructions, and perhaps found on the digikam website.
