Wireless AC Adaptor

Hi, I have been using the latest Kubuntu live disc and really love it.

I have an Acer Laptop running Win8.1 ( tried the ghastly spyware OS called Win10 and rolled back again)

Kubuntu will give me almost all I could want and I could totally delete Windows , however I have one query.

I use a wireless AC adaptor and wonder if there is any software available from Kubuntu.

The disc supplied with the adaptor has Linux drivers and files but the information included was not exactly easy to understand. There are some tar.gz packages.

Assuming I can get the adaptor sorted which version of Kubuntu is for long term use, 14 or 15?

Any information would be gratefully received.

The tar.gz files are compressed files, there may be better instructions when you extract the files with Ark.
Good thing they are provided, not used that type device before myself so I would not know if there is drivers otherwise.

Kubuntu 14.04 is the current LTS version.
