    BusyBox/Initramfs error?

I start up, a menu appears on the top it says

    GNU GRUB version 2.00-13ubuntu3
    options below are

    Kubuntu GNU/Linux
    Advanced options for Kubuntu Gnu/Linux
    Memorytest (memtest86+)
Memeory test (memtest86+, serial console 115200)
When I select "Kubuntu GNU/Linux option
    the screen goes to this:

    BusyBox v1.20.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.20-8ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

    (initramfs)

Is there anything I can do about this? My friend installed the Kubuntu on my Pavilion dv7 laptop and one day starting it up all this happened. Windows was really sluggish but once he installed the Kubuntu OS I was able to do so much more with greater speed being how old the laptop is.

I am a total newbie with this and haven't found any solutions after a few days of research.

can you remember what you had done during the last good boot (anything you usually do not do )or removing files/programs(system)

if you chose the advanced options > recovery ,,,,will it boot ?

Yes actually, my battery recently died out so I had to keep it plugged in. After several restarts /months later I was cleaning the house and accidently powered it off by unplugging it and it started doing this.

It probably lost track of its sleep/resume file or boot partition for some reason. Can you boot into recovery as someone else asked?
