    How to install theme

    I am new to Kubuntu.

I would like to know how to install theme I went to settings > application appearance and workspace

But when I downloaded theme http://kde-look.org/content/show.php...content=104232

I have no idea what the stages are to get it setup I have got them from get themes and also downloaded it but theme not changing.

    Whats the correct way?

if you installed the theme from "get themes"

you should see it as a theme choice

click it then apply (lower right of window) ,,,,,it should take affect .

If you look at the theme pak that the OP linked to, you will see that this is a bundled collection of many different things, and as such won't be found in any of the GHNS installer thingies.

The only way to install these things is to find each component and install them from each look and feel section, such as icons, color schemes, etc
Or use the terminal and follow the instructions given.

Also note that this particular pak is quite old, and you may have to browse the comments on this to find a newer version of the installer as the original (from 2009) likely won't work in the latest versions.

Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack for Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04

Testing this with the Kubuntu Utopic 14.10 - Ubuntu naming: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DevelopmentCodeNames

Downloading the Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack for Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04.tar.gz

Unpacking it - Right click the archive - Extract - Extract Archive Here, Autodeteck Subfolder

Going to the 'Vistar7 - Windows 7 Transformation Pack for Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04' subfolder.

Reading the 'Readme, for god sake.txt' - This is old, old, ... old so I'm not running the 'install.sh'.

        Looking the 'install.sh':

Note the 'install.sh' is using a new user : 'vistar7' - It is a good idea to use a new user account, so you don't mess your current desktop.

The 'install.sh' has 'Installing required software'.

        About these apps:

        plasma-widget-panelspacer
        - KDE SC has it

        plasma-widget-stasks
        - dead http://kde-look.org/content/show.php...?content=99739 - The KDE SC has the Icon-Only Task Manager

Second part: 'Installing Vistar7 Transformation Pack'

Running commands - one by one:

        Code:
        tar fzx Vistar7-configuration.tar.gz -C $HOME

        tar fzx W7fonts.tar.gz -C $HOME/.fonts/

        tar fzx W7sounds.tar.gz -C $HOME/.kde/share/sounds/

        tar fzx Win7-IconTheme.tar.gz -C $HOME/.kde/share/icons/

        tar fzx W7wallpapers.tar.gz -C $HOME/.kde/share/
        About the deKorator:
        Code:
        tar fzx deKorator_theme.tar.gz -C $HOME/.kde/share/apps/deKorator/themes/
There are plenty of Win7 window decorations for the KDE

        and running the rest:
        Code:
        tar fzx Vistar7_PlasmaTheme.tar.gz -C $HOME/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme/

        tar fzx Vistar7_Splash.tar.gz -C $HOME/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/
        Mostly working ...
